WI Legislators ask UW Hospital/Clinics to reconsider Abortion Mill

Agreed.

Madison . . . Today

Senator Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend) along with twenty-nine fellow legislators released their letter requesting the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics to halt any plans to sponsor a midterm abortion facility at the Madison Surgery Center.

“I am ashamed that the University would even consider being a part of a 2nd trimester abortion clinic,” said Senator Grothman. “Other hospitals around the country are taking pride in providing lifesaving care to these babies. I am finding revulsion among some normally pro-choice people at doing abortions so far into the pregnancy. ”

The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics have stated that they will discuss their midterm abortion plans at their February board meeting.

“I’ve always thought the University of Wisconsin Hospital was something the entire state could support,” said Samantha Kerkman. (R-Randall) “To begin doing abortions, something that very few medical facilities in the state will consider, will forever be a black mark on this institution.”

The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics spokeswoman has stated that these midterm abortions will be performed from 13 weeks up until 22 weeks of gestational life.

“The idea that the University of Wisconsin-Madison would sponsor a midterm abortion clinic is reprehensible,” said Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan). “I implore them to reconsider their plan. Babies in their second trimester of life have fingerprints, suck their thumb, and are able to feel pain.”
