Dear Friends,

On November 8, more than 50 adult and student volunteers are needed for the Marquette FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Regional Robotics Tournament.

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an exciting and fun robotics program that ignites an enthusiasm for discovery, science, and technology in kids ages 9 to 14 (16 outside of the U.S. and Canada). Each year FLL teams embark on an adventurous Challenge based on current, real-world issues. Guided by a team coach and assisted by mentors,

The kids:
Research and solve a real-world problem based on the Challenge theme
Present their research and solutions
Build an autonomous robot using engineering concepts

Throughout a typical tournament day, teams meet with panels of judges who evaluate their teamwork, science presentation, and technical skills. In the afternoon, teams participate in head-to-head "cooperatition" in sports-like robot games.

The Marquette Tournament is in need of Volunteers and Judges. (Preferably NOT robotics team family members). There are a number of volunteer positions that are needed, from crowd control, set-up, to technical Judge (programming), science project presentation judge, teamwork judge, timers, field re-setters, and much more. What ever your personal expertise is, there is sure to be a nitch where you could fit in, and make this a wonderful opportunity for the students involved.

Volunteers who sign-up to work the 7:30 - noon or noon - 4:30 shifts (or both) on November 8 will get lunch and a volunteer t-shirt for their efforts.
