Chamber sings kumbayah with WB School Board

The West Bend COC said this today:

At the January meeting of the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors, the board had an extended and impassioned discussion regarding the upcoming West Bend School District referendum. Ultimately the board voted unanimously to support both questions on the referendum in order to improve the facilities in our local schools.

The chamber recognizes that there is never a good time to ask the citizens of our community to support a tax increase. However, we believe that making an investment in our school facilities is too important to delay until the economy completely recovers. There are significant advantages to negotiating favorable construction prices in a down economy, thus we have decided to take a proactive stand on this issue.

Note the underlined portion.

Now compare to Joe Carlson and Kathy Van Eerden's most recent guest editorial statement below:

"We know there is never a good time for a building referendum."

And listen to the gentle brainwashing of the referendum video that has been distributed for your listening enjoyment here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY_Vz4_Hh68

Sound oddly similiar?

Could it be that the Chamber forgot to think of the taxpayers when singing...

"Someone's cryin...my lord....kumbayah......"

Taxpayers want a frugal and streamlined referendum. Someone's cryin....
