Letter on West Bend Referendum scoffed

My thoughts exactly. Curtsy to Owen at Boots and Sabers.

Sorry, but I have to pick on this letter
to the editor
in the West Bend Daily News advocating for passing the
upcoming school referendum questions in West Bend.

The West Bend Board
of Education is asking district voters to approve two referendum questions on
April 7. These referendum questions are based on serious school needs. It has
realized we can only afford necessities and wish lists are things of the past.

That’s precisely the point. Many of us still think that there are a lot
of wish list items in the referenda. If the board had put together a referendum
question that would pay to correct the deferred maintenance, fix Badger Middle
School, and perhaps a few small additions to the existing schools, it probably
would have sailed through. Instead, they added things like secured entrances,
replacing Jackson Elementary, and other items that would be nice, but aren’t
necessities.
